Welcome to 2018! At Mark Sheppard Bathrooms & Renovations we’re looking forward to a busy year – we hope you have big plans for your house this year, because we’re ready to help!

We opened the new year with a bang by delivering a petite bathroom with a big hidden feature!

Hackett modernisation – a small bathroom with a big surprise!

The owners of this happy Hackett home had hit the limits of their little bathroom, which was completely dominated by a large corner spa. The tub’s huge footprint barely left enough room for one person, let alone two!

Deanne and Todd knew what they wanted: a separate bath and shower with a luxurious double vanity. The challenge was fitting this all into their tiny bathroom. We researched, brainstormed, and struck gold with the idea of a sunken bathtub – tucked in right under the shower! This would give them exactly what they wanted without sacrificing space. We chose a beautiful and durable volcanic ash tub and topped it with a treated Burmese teak ‘deck’ to provide the shower floor. The panels are easily removable to access the tub and it gives the room a more open feeling.

The 1500mm double vanity provides plenty of storage, and we also built in our trademark inset cabinets to maximise space.

‘I’m ecstatic,’ said Deanne. ‘It’s even more than I’d hoped for.’

The earthy tiles and accessories were chosen to balance the new wooden feature: subtle brown vein in the tile complements the shower deck, as well as the rest of the house – bringing the bathroom into the modern age but still making sure it doesn’t feel out of place with the rest of the home. Other special touches include a hidden strip drain by the door.

The result is a more spacious and modern-feeling bathroom, without sacrificing comfort, useability or vision. ‘I’m ecstatic,’ said Deanne. ‘It’s even more than I’d hoped for.’
